Davidson ranks the highest among 29 locations for best place to live near Charlotte, according to a new study by the real estate brokerage site Moveto.
The study considered areas with more than 50 business listings and within 30 miles from the center of Charlotte. Eligible locales were then judged by amenities per capita, standard cost of living, total crimes per 100,000, unemployment rate and average commute time.
Davidson was noted for its low crime rate and 97 percent high school graduation rate. Also getting shout-outs were the various housing options, Davidson College, River Run Country Club, Famous Toastery and the farmers market.
Cornelius came in third after Fort Mill, S.C. Cornelius was praised for its number of amenities and median rent price of $1013. Named places were Jetton Park, 131 Main, Pop’s Barbecue, the Cornelius Arts Center and The Wine Cellar.
Huntersville tied with Belmont for eighth on the list. It noted the 2,320 amenities and 93 percent high school graduation rate. Recognized eateries were Duckworth’s Grill & Taphouse, and Rocky’s Pizza, plus the family-friendly children’s museum, Discovery Place KIDS.
